Cold Spring Basement Transformation
A full basement transformation in the Centerville, Ohio.
The clients came to me with a beautiful but completely unused basement — plain walls, dated carpet, and no real purpose. Their goal was simple: turn it into the new hangout, a space the whole family and their guests would actually want to gather in.
We designed and managed the full renovation from concept to final reveal. At the heart of the space is a custom kitchen and entertaining area, anchored by a white oak island with a waterfall-edge countertop, swivel barstools, and a large sink with a touch-feature faucet for easy drink-making. The living room centers on a custom gas fireplace with a hand-finished white concrete surround and a reeded herringbone detail that ties back to the island and the upstairs half bath. Custom arched built-ins with integrated shelf lighting give the family a place to display their travels, while a hidden slat-wall entry conceals a dedicated home gym. A wallpapered office and a richly finished half bath round out the space, with custom plaster finishes and a warm palette of whites, woods, and greens tying every room together.
This basement went from forgotten storage to one of the most-loved levels of the home. Designing and managing every detail in-house — from the fireplace surround to the hidden gym wall — is exactly what makes a transformation like this feel seamless.
